Getting Kikatv onto the screen
Open Google Play and confirm you are signed in
Find it on the home row, or tucked under Apps on Google TV. Make certain an account is actually signed in before you go looking, because the store is happy to let you browse signed out and only balks the moment you press install.
Choose the player that fits your household
Look up TiviMate IPTV Player or IPTV Smarters Pro. On the shared family television, lean towards TiviMate, whose grid guide is its entire reason for being and far kinder when three generations are passing the remote around. Smarters is the plainer, cost-free option if you would rather ease in gently at first.
Give the player your Kikatv account
TiviMate greets you with Add playlist and then an Xtream Codes login; Smarters names the very same thing Login with Xtream Codes API. In both you provide three things from your activation note: the web address of the server, then the account name, then the password. Let the first sync grind through the channels and guide data, a minute or two the first time and brisk thereafter.
Trim the list to what your home actually watches
Here is the step that turns a wall of channels into a usable set. Switch off the groups nobody ever opens, keep the kids, entertainment, films, sport and news your family really uses, and set the audio language. TiviMate files this under Settings, then Playlists; ten minutes spent now spares a thousand pointless scrolls later.
Give each person a row, and the children a lock
Hand everyone their own stretch of favorites: Disney Channel, Boomerang and PBS Kids grouped for the little ones, the soaps and reality in the middle, sport and documentaries for the rest. TiviMate Premium can hide entire groups, so the adult categories need never show on the grid at all; over in Smarters, a PIN locks them behind four digits. Either way, the television a child picks up is the one you arranged, not the jumble it shipped with.
Fixing the usual snags
Google Play will not list the player
A handful of cut-price boxes run the phone version of Android and quietly hide anything flagged TV-only. Carry the APK across with Downloader instead, using the same run of steps as the Firestick guide; once it is on, the app behaves no differently.
The guide is bare on the first night
Give that opening sync time to complete before you write it off, then fire Update EPG from the player's settings and wait a few minutes more. Guide data rides with your login, so there is nothing extra to paste, although the desk can hand you a standalone guide address for the rare player that demands one.
A budget box chokes on 4K at peak time
Weak boxes gag on the heaviest feeds once the household is busy. Knock that channel down to its HD version, set the player to hardware decoding, and if the box is on Wi-Fi move it onto the wired port. If it still labours, the limit is the box itself and not your connection.

Android TV IPTV FAQ
Which Android box should a family buy?
The Nvidia Shield is the fastest and shrugs off 4K HDR on film night, though it outprices the subscription. For most homes a Chromecast with Google TV 4K is the sensible, affordable choice and cheap enough to drop on a second set. With a no-name box, hold out for 2 GB of memory and a wired network port, and read the spec sheet with a sceptical eye.
Does a Chromecast with Google TV run Kikatv?
It does. Android TV sits beneath it, so both TiviMate and IPTV Smarters drop in from Google Play and accept your Kikatv details as above. It is among the neater ways to give a spare room or a grandparent's set the complete line-up without any extra hardware cluttering the shelf.
Can I keep children away from the adult channels?
Yes. In IPTV Smarters a four-digit code under Parental Control seals off whichever categories you choose, while TiviMate's Premium group hiding lifts those groups off the grid so there is nothing there to stumble on. Add a favorites row of kids channels on top and the children get a tidy TV of their own while the rest stays yours.
What internet speed does a busy Android TV household need?
A single HD stream is happy on around 10 Mbps, while a 4K feed wants nearer 25. The number to plan around is not one stream but several at once: cartoons in one room, a match in another and a tablet in a third can mean three or four streams together, so a line of 50 Mbps or more keeps a full evening smooth. A wired box on the main set takes the pressure off the Wi-Fi for everyone else.
Can I pause or record live TV on an Android box?
In TiviMate you can, with Premium: it adds recording and a pause buffer, handy for freezing a children's program when someone needs the bathroom, or catching a show while you are out on the school run. You will need somewhere to keep the recordings, either a USB drive on the box or network storage. IPTV Smarters leans more on the catch-up and on-demand sections for the same end.
